When Daniel and I were launching the plumbing company things were chaotic in our life. We were starting a new business, deciding where we wanted to live and start our company, and we were pregnant. It was a crazy time, and what we wanted to build with our new business was stability for our family. We didn’t want to be living on job sites in an RV and traveling from city to city, we wanted for our new home and business to feel like a calm sanctuary for ourselves and for our clients. That’s how we came up with Still Waters Plumbing. We wanted our company to be a place of calm for our clients and for ourselves. When you have a plumbing problem, you are typically in a panic. Water leaks can go from a small drip to a waterfall pretty quickly so when clients need a plumber, they are typically anxious and stressed. What we wanted our clients to feel when we arrive is that they are at peace and trusting that we will take care of the issue. We wanted to feel like instead of being lost at sea, that they are in Still Waters.

Our Christian faith is also a big part of who we are as people as well as a business, and the verse from Psalms 23 is responsible for our business name. The verse goes, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want; he makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” We loved the imagery of this verse and the calmness it portrayed when you are under the care of the Lord and we wanted our clients to feel that calmness when we worked with them.

So that’s how we named our company and why our name is a great blueprint for how we run our business. Let me know what else you would like to learn through my blog posts!
